BRISTOL, FL – Nettie Leigh Rankin, 82, of Bristol, passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2024.

Nettie Leigh was born to the late William H. (Bill) and Verna Francis Rankin in Bristol on Feb. 27, 1942.

She worked briefly as a teacher’s aide at Bristol Elementary School. Her career also included 19 years of employment with the State of Florida, Department of Labor, where she was a very proficient data entry operator.

She was known for her immaculately kept lawn and her ability to garden. She took pride in her landscape and had a fabulous flower bed at all times. She was an amazing cook and celebrated for her baking skills. Her famous homemade biscuits and cornbread were the request at every family gathering.

Nettie Leigh was a huge sports fanatic, especially for her beloved Florida Gators. She was also a truehearted Tom Brady fan, even through the retirement. She was passionate about everything she put her heart into.

She was a member of Lake Mystic Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Beloved survivors include her children, Melissa (Gordon) Durham of Bristol, Linda White of Tallahassee, Bennett (Kim) White, Brady White and Eddie Joe (Lynn) White, all of Hosford. Nettie Leigh’s grandchildren include Ashley Durham of Tallahassee, Erin Larkins of York, Pennsylvania, Adam Revell of Bristol, Cole Revell of Crawfordville, Breanna White, Cierra White, Corey White, and Brogan Norris, all of Hosford, and  Jordan Nobles of Bristol, and Shelby Roy of Fountain. Nettie was blessed with nine great-grandchildren who she absolutely adored. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry (Mary) Rankin of Crestview, Billy (Joanne) Rankin of Thomasville, GA, and Toby (Cindy) Rankin of Fairhope, AL.

Graveside services were held at Lake Mystic Baptist Church Cemetery in Bristol on Sept. 17.

All arrangements were under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
