BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Pauline Stokes, 95, of Blountstown passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, at her home.

Pauline was born July 24, 1928, in Altha to the late James Ira and Florence Sewell.

She had many seasons of life that included rearing four wonderful children, who she always admonished in the ways of the Lord.  She worked as a stenographer with the Welfare Department in Blountstown for many years while sub-contracting residential homes as a side venture, followed by a secretarial job with the Calhoun County School Superintendent’s Office.  She later took on the job of Occupational Specialist with Calhoun County School System.  Somehow, with all she had going on, she also found time to sew for her daughters and many grandchildren.  When she got her real estate license, she opened her own real estate office in Blountstown in 1978 and sold real estate for about 35 years.

After she retired, she did some traveling, she lovingly cooked hundreds of good meals for family and others.

She always tried to help anyone and everyone in whatever way she could. Pauline had a genuine heart of love and compassion for everyone. Her priorities were Jesus and her family, in that order. In more recent years she spent many hours daily reading and studying the Bible and exercising. She was a special lady with a loving attitude and concern for others that made an impact on anyone she met. She was loved and remembered by so many in the community and she will be sorely missed by many besides just her family!

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Stokes, and her second husband, Durwood Stokes as well as her sisters, Aline Rose, Othella Duncan Manning, Bobbie Jean Braxton and a grandchild, Holly Kolmetz.

Survivors include her son Paul Stokes and his wife Sandi; her daughters, Blonza Layfield and her husband William, Janice Sumner and her husband Earnie and Debbie Kolmetz and her husband Robert; five stepchildren, 15n grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Services to celebrate Pauline’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. 2023 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Kyle Peddie and Derek Causseaux officiating. Interment will follow in Boggs Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the services on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
