WEWAHITCHKA, FL – Samuel Pierson Smith Jr., 79, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Wewahitchka.
Samuel was born June 29, 1944 to Samuel Pierson Smith Sr and Vera Smith in Panama City.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was known as the catfish man in Wewa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Donald and Billy Smith.
Samuel is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lillie Smith; son Brian Smith and wife Becky of Wewahitchka; daughters Margaret Turner of Wewahitchka and Pamela Rouse of Wewahitchka; sisters Mary Anna Smith of Panama City, sister-in-law, Clara Smith of Panama City; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 10 at Roberts Cemetery in Wewahitchka with the visitation starting at 1 p.m. (CT). The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. (CT).
All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
