Shelfer Brown
HOSFORD, FL – Shelfer Brown, 89, of Hosford passed away March 1, 2024 at his home.
He was born on June 27, 1934 and was this son of Allison Monroe and R.M. Chason Brown.
Shelfer retired as a machinist with CarQuest in Quincy. He also worked as a machinist with Keenan’s Auto Parts in Quincy. He previously worked with the state DOT and as a deputy with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office under Sheriff Cloyce Rankin.
He was best known as Daddy, Papa, and Uncle Shelfer to those dearest to him. His favorite past-time was fishing on the Ochlockonee River, especially with his beloved late wife, Joyce, who loved it as much as he did.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Sanders Brown, his parents, Bud and R.M. Brown, a sister Geraldine Sykes (Shiny), brothers Sedwick Brown, Gardner Brown (Claire), Pete Brown (Opal), Abner Brown, and Sonny Brown (Pauline).
Shelfer is survived by two children, Debbie Potter (Jinker) and Sterling Brown (Judy); grandchildren Josh Potter (Melissa), Will Potter (Selina), Morgen Hill (Chase), Jason Brown (Emily), Stacey Lewis (Ashley); numerous great-grandchildren; one brother Lum Brown (Jannis); a sister-in-law, Edna Brown, and numerous nieces and nephews.
