Obituary – Sherri Dewitte
Sherri Miles Dewitte
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – Sherri Miles Dewitte, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend passed away at the age of 62 on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1961, in Charleston, SC.
Sherri was predeceased by her loving parents, A.C. and Grace Miles.
Sherri is survived by her devoted sons, Ryan Connor of Marianna and Andrew Miles of Panama City, and her sister, Teresa Miles (Don Sheppard) of St. Johns.
Sherri leaves behind the greatest joys of her life, her grandchildren, Raelynn Grace Miles, Zeppelin Dean Miles, Pauline Gracie Miles, Clayton and Chase. Sherri is also survived by her nephew, Ashton Miles Sheppard and many friends and extended family members.
Sherri was the first child born to AC and Grace Miles. Her father was serving in the United States Air Force at the time, so she was afforded many opportunities to travel and enjoy different cultures throughout the world. While living in Japan her younger sister Teresa was born and they embarked on a childhood rich with culture and opportunity. Learning about the world through the lens of travel likely gave Sherri her acceptance of the world and especially those less fortunate.
Sherri never met a person she was not willing to help. Her grandchildren were the center of her being. GaGa, as she was affectionately known, loved spending time with her firstborn granddaughter, Raelynn, whom she called Sunshine. They enjoyed reading and listening to music and the occasional beauty makeover.
Several years later her first grandson was born. Upon Sherri’s recommendation, Ryan named his son Zeppelin after one of Sherri’s favorite rock bands, Led Zeppelin.
On March 8, 2023, Sherri’s last grandchild was born and she cherished the beauty of Pauline, her little Princess.
Sherri was also blessed with her chosen grandsons, Clayton and Chase who brought wonderful energy, light and love to her world.
Sherri’s last year on this earth was a painful one. Like many of us, she leaves behind a life marked by struggles, happiness, sadness and joy. Despite the challenges that she faced, Sherri continued to love deeply – especially her unwavering love for her sons Ryan and Andrew and their beautiful children. In her final days, Sherri felt this love and took with her an eternal peace that transcends the struggles of this world.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel.
