Tallahassee woman killed, Hosford man seriously injured in Friday crash
TALLAHASSEE – A right-rear tire blowout resulted in the death of one driver and left another seriously injured Friday afternoon.Â
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 79-year-old Tallahassee woman was eastbound on SR 20 at Cornerstone Lane around 3:50 p.m. when one of her car tires exploded.
The vehicle traveled into the westbound lane and into the path of a pickup driven by a 42-year-old Hosford man.
The second driver tried to swerve to the right to avoid a collision but T-boned the car on the north shoulder of the road as it spun around.
The first driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tallahassee Fire Department. The Hosford man was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
