THEFT SUSPECTS CRASH IN ALTHA
Pair arrested after Walmart
theft Saturday; Hwy. 71 high speed
pursuit ends with crash in Altha Â
MARIANNA – Jackson County deputies responded to Walmart after receiving a report that a woman was seen cutting open a box with a knife and stealing a watch around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.  Deputies arrived in time to spot the suspect in the passenger seat of a vehicle being driven by a man leaving the parking lot.Â
When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled onto Hwy. 71 at a high rate of speed. The suspect continued fleeing from deputies into Calhoun County, and both the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol were notified and responded. Upon entering Altha, the vehicle crashed.Â
The driver was identified as Pierre Metcalfe, who had active warrants out of Calhoun and Liberty counties. It was also discovered that Metcalfe did not have a valid driver’s license.Â
Deputies found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a vehicle search. They also located the stolen watch inside the passenger, Kelly Skinner’s, purse.Â
Metcalfe and Skinner were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County jail. Metcalfe is being charged in Jackson County with driving with no valid driver’s license and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Skinner is being charged with permitting an unauthorized person to drive with other charges pending.
Both will also face charges in Calhoun County.Â
