Two seriously injured

in Christmas Day crash

CALHOUN COUNTY – Two Kinard residents were seriously injured when the car they were traveling in ran off the road just after 5 p.m. on Christmas Day.

According to the FHP report,  the vehicle  – which was driven by a 28-year-old Kinard man – was northbound on SR 69 near CR 69A at 5:15 p.m. Monday when it left the road, crossed the east shoulder and went into a ditch. 

The driver and right front passenger, a 28-year-old woman,  were taken to Tallahassee Regional Medical Center.  The back seat passenger was a 27-year-old Blountstown man who received minor injuries and was taken to Calhoun Liberty Hospital.

No one in the car was wearing a seatbelt.

Charges are pending.  The crash was investigated by FHP Trooper Raymond F. Baily.

 

Four-year-old seriously

injured in ATV accident

JACKSON COUNTY – A four-year-old boy from Tallahassee was seriously injured when the driver of the ATV he was riding on lost control of the vehicle around 4:20 p.m. on Dec. 23. 

According to the FHP report, the driver – identified as a 42-year-old Tallahassee man – was traveling southbound on a private trail through the woods off CR 275 (Church Street) and approaching a right turn when the ATV began rotating clockwise.  The ATV then overturned twice before coming to rest upside-down, facing south.

The driver escaped with minor injuries.

 

Driver ejected after attempting

to pass truck making right turn

BAY COUNTY – A 36-year-old Bonifay man was transported to Ascension Sacred Health Bay under trauma alert after being thrown from his vehicle when he collided with a pickup truck traveling ahead of him on Dec. 26.

Both drivers were northbound in the right lane of SR 75 at 5:12 p.m. when the truck ahead began slowing down to make a right turn onto a private road.   The car traveling behind him then began to change lanes without slowing down and slammed into the back of the truck, according to the FHP report.

The impact sent the car airborne, overturning several times and ejecting the driver before coming to final rest about 600 feet north of the collision.   The injured man had not used his seatbelt.  The trooper’s report indicated the man’s injuries were minor.

The driver of the pickup – identified as a 32-year-old Panama City man – was not injured.

The crash was investigated by FHP Trooper Radcliff.
