BLOUNTSTOWN – A chain-collision crash involving four vehicles on SR 20 in Blountstown sent one driver to the emergency room with minor injuries, damaged three other vehicles and caused the busy road to be closed down temporarily.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 49-year-old Hosford man was eastbound around 2 p.m. when he failed to notice that the vehicle ahead of him had stopped and was waiting to turn left onto Mason Road.

The car ran into the rear of the waiting vehicle, which was driven by a 77-year-old woman from Clarksville.  The impact knocked the car into the westbound travel lane, where it hit an oncoming pickup driven by a Bristol woman, 49, who was traveling with a 12-year-old girl.  The third vehicle then collided with the right side of a pickup driven by a 44-year-old man from Detroit, MI.

The first and fourth vehicles stopped on the south shoulder of SR 20.  The car that was hit from behind was left facing north in the westbound lane of SR 20.  The truck from Bristol came to final rest on Mason Road, facing north.
