Vehicle pulled out of the
Apalachicola River Tues.
CALHOUN COUNTY, FL – Law enforcement officers joined by an FWC dive team Tuesday morning didn’t find what they expected but they didn’t leave empty handed after pulling an early 1990s Ford Bronco out of the Apalachicola River.
Investigators had received information that a car thought to have been involved in a fatal hit and run on River Road in Jackson County early last year may have been hidden in the water off John Redd Landing Road in neighboring Calhoun County.
“Unfortunately, we did not discover the vehicle we were looking for but we did discover a vehicle that had been dumped in the river,” said FHP Lt. Jason King.
“The Florida Highway Patrol, along with FWC and Mallory Towing, worked hard collectively to remove what was believed to be a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run,” King said. “A separate division within our agency will follow up and see if they can locate any vital information off this vehicle (the truck) to see where it came from.”
He added, “Realizing we didn’t locate the vehicle in question, we want to reassure the public that we are diligently working towards solving this case as well as many others.”
