acquires  2,200 acres

at Telogia Creek

LIBERTY COUNTY, FL – The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has acquired 2,200 acres of land in Liberty County. The land surrounds Telogia Creek and adds to the 22,000 acres under the conservation group’s care throughout North Florida.

The new acreage is home to the federally threatened eastern indigo snake, a blue-black glossy reptile that grows to be about nine feet long. TNC hopes to use the new area as a release point for the snakes, which the group has been breeding and releasing into the wild over the past decade.

The Nature Conservancy says the acquisition will also help create a more connected habitat for wildlife.
