ABBYE FAUROT

BLOUNTSTOWN – Abbye Faurot, age 99, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 1, 2023. Abbye was born Oct. 6, 1924 in Alford to the late Allie Mae Ayers and Mack Ayers.

After graduating from Blountstown High School, Abbye went to work in Washington, D.C. for the War Production Board.  Shortly after returning home after the war she worked for the Florida State Legislature.  In 1943 Abbye married her high school sweetheart, Billy Faurot.  Abbye and Billy originally operated a family laundry in Blountstown.  Later in life Abbye retired from the State of Florida General Services Commission.  They were happily married 77 years until Billy’s death in 2020.

Abbye and Billy were the parents of Barbara Nash (David) of Weatherford, TX., Arthur Faurot (Melba) of Blountstown, Leslie Hand (Eddie) of Tallahassee, Spencer Faurot (Sharleen) of Panama City Beach and Alan Faurot (Jane) of Hosford.

Abbye is the grandmother of Lisa Nash, Sam Nash (Gwen), Adam Faurot (Christy), Ben Faurot (Katie), Amy Hand, Alison Manning (James), Seth Faurot (Holly), Stacie Gemmer (Chris), Shallen Thomas (Matt), Alana Faurot, Leah Hounshell (Ryan), and Sarah Faurot.   She is also a great-grandmother to 22 great- grandchildren.

Abbye was a Master Gardener and for many years shared cuttings of her plants to friends and family.  She was an excellent cook and hosted large family meals.  She was an accomplished artist, seamstress, authoress of two novels (Chipola Roads and Rachel) as well as a researcher and publisher of the Faurot family and Ayers family histories.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 at 10 a.m. CT at Boggs Cemetery in Blountstown.
