J.C. NEWSOME

CALHOUN COUNTY – J.C. Newsome, 89, a lifelong resident of the Carr and Frink community, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023.

J.C. was born on Dec. 13, 1933, to George Newsome Sr. and Ruth (Hollington) Newsome. J.C. was a member of Open Arms Assembly of God Church. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked for St Joe Paper Company for 42 years. J.C. loved fishing, farming, spending time with family, going to church, and eating at Golden Coral.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Newsome; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his son, Terry Newsome (Rhonda) of the Frink Community; daughter, Iva Watson (Bob) of Panama City; sisters, Eva Morris and Ella Luton of Clarksville;  grandchildren, Jason Watson (Allycia), Jessica Newsome, Ginnyfer Watson and Kayla Newsome; great-grandchildren, J.R. Tyus, Gage Tyus, Ciara Carter, Jason Watson Jr. and Zaylen Broxton.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 1 p.m. ^CT at Peavy Funeral Home Chapel. A service will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bill Mayo and Rev. Charles Coley officiating. Interment will follow at McClellan Cemetery in Frink.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
