SAMUEL LEONARD BAILEY

BLOUNTSTOWN – Samuel Leonard Bailey, 77, of Blountstown passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Panama City. Sam was born on Oct. 6, 1945, in Marianna to Leon Lynwood and Jane Leonard Bailey. He grew up in Blountstown, left in 1964 and moved back home in the 1990s. Sam worked for MR & R Trucking, was a truck driver for Flowers Bread Company and then retired from the Calhoun County Road Department. He was an avid Alabama fan who enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and socializing with people. Most of all, Sam truly loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Lynwood Bailey; mother, Jane Leonard Bailey; brothers, Leon Lynwood Bailey, Jr., and Charles Patrick Bailey.

Survivors include wife, Judy Bailey of Blountstown; sons, Daniel “Dan” Clarence Bailey of North Dakota and Michael Smith of Blountstown; daughters, Catherine Jane Bailey of Jacksonville, and Kristin Tipton (John) of Clarksville; sister, Barbara Bailey Cogdell (Don) of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Tanner Bailey; Clayton Smith (Brit), Jeremy Tipton (Rebecca), Ashley Smith and Codi Waldron, Vicki Tipton and Steven Myrick; great grandchildren, Kason Bailey, Bryce Smith, Declan Waldron, Scarlett Myrick, Violet Myrick; nephew James McDaniel “Mack” Bailey (Stephanie) of DeFuniak Springs; niece, Mary Ellen Bailey of DeFuniak Springs; nephew, Terry Morrow of Haynesville NC; and niece, Caitlin Bailey Cogdell of Decatur GA.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 2 p.m. CT at the Peavy Funeral Home Chapel with family receiving friends from 1 p.m. until service time. The family will receive flowers but anyone wishing, may make contributions to your favorite charity.

All arrangements are under the direction of Marlon Peavy at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
