Obituary – Brent Eugene Underwood
BRENT EUGENE UNDERWOOD
COFFEE SPRINGS, AL – Brent Eugene Underwood, 69, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023 at Flowers Hospital.
Born in Sweetwater, TN on May 13, 1954, Brent served in the military from 1972 through 1987 – first in the Air Force, then the ARMY Reserve.
After many years in the automotive service industry, he began his entrepreneurial career by opening Quality Metal Fabrications, where he built Self-Contained Cleaning Systems for the military. He ran this successful business and enjoyed giving back to the Enterprise community through metal fabrication projects, including ironwork at the Enterprise City Cemetery and helping secure the Boll Weevil statue to the monument so it could never be stolen again.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, competition shooting, gunsmithing, and cooking. Brent was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and parents, Ivan “Gene” and Kate Underwood.
Survivors include his son David (Andrea) Underwood of Montgomery, daughter, Stephanie (Adam) Brumberg of Enterprise; the true joys of his life – granddaughters Payton and Harper Underwood; brother, Dwight (Jennifer) Underwood (Opp), sisters, Jo “Jody” Lawson (Titusville, FL) and Jill Underwood (Jacksonville, FL).
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Coffee Springs. In lieu of flowers, you can honor Brent by donating to the NRA or Republican Party, both of which he was a lifetime member.
