CALHOUN COUNTY – A local man is being questioned today about the death of a woman whose body was found dumped in a creek bed under Camp Head Road last week.
Calhoun County Sheriff Glenn Kimbrel said he is waiting for confirmation that the victim’s family has been notified before releasing her name, but did say that she is in her late 20s and from Gulf County.
“We believe she was in a relationship with someone in Calhoun County, but we don’t know the extent of the relationship. We don’t know if she was living here,” the sheriff said.
“Hopefully, we’ll have some conclusions in a short period of time.”
A local resident walked down to the creek and discovered the body of a white female on top of some rocks in the shallow water around 3:10 p.m. Sunday, near the Mossy Pond community in the northeast part of the county.
The woman was found wrapped in a bedsheet with her legs and left arm exposed on top of some rocks in a shallow creek. She was wearing black shorts and a black t-shirt that featured an image of horror movie character Michael Myers.
