PANAMA CITY – A 17-year-old boy and his passenger, a 15-year-old girl, both of Panama City, were seriously injured after he drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle early Tuesday morning.
The teenager was waiting at a stop sign on East 24th Plaza, facing east, when he pulled out to make left turn onto US 231 around 7 a.m. and drove his car into the path of a southbound SUV, driven by a 42-year-old Altha man, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The front of the SUV collided with the left front side of the car. The car came to a stop in the outside southbound lane of SR 75, facing south. The collision sent the SUV in a southeasterly direction across the northbound lanes of SR 75, going off the road and onto the east grass shoulder, where the front end of the vehicle collided with the east grass ditch and came to final rest. The driver sustained minor injuries.
Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seat belts.
