KINARD, FL – Bertie Mae Griffin Pitts, age 85, of Kinard, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Broad Branch on March 29, 1938.
She was a proud homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Her pleasures in life included singing for family and friends, painting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Bertie Mae was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Barnum Gale Pitts; her parents, Elbert “Buck” Griffin and Estelle Griffin and grandson Timothy S. Pitts.
She is survived by five children, Timothy L. (Janet) Pitts of Milton, G. David Pitts of Kinard, Teresa R. Pitts of Wewahitchka, Pamela J. (Milton) Aaron of Alapaha GA, and Clifford H. (Michelle) Pitts of Kinard; five grandchildren, Sandi McNeal, Anthony (Jaiden) Pitts, Kimberly Chandler, Brianna Aaron, and Carson Pitts; ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Luke, Lakin, Amy, Emily, Noah, Collin, Elaina, Alice, and Neil; and four great-great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Cameron, Daisy and Kinsley; and one sister, Margaret Brogdon of Wewahitchka.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at Cypress Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Kinard. Visitation with family will be at 10 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 a.m. . Intermit will follow in Cypress Creek Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.
