Shirley Mae Thompson Harvey
NORTHPORT, MAINE — Shirley Mae Thompson Harvey, 85, of Northport, passed away peacefully at her home on March 12, 2024.
She was born in Camden but grew up in Belfast and graduated from Crosby High School in 1957. Soon after she married Warren Macleod and they were blessed with two boys. Later, she married Sherley Harvey and they spent many years summering in Northport and wintering in Zephyrhills, FL.
After his death, she met the love of her life, Richard Ryan, and together they continued to winter in Florida where she learned to paint and sew quilts. Shirley loved to play piano and was part of the Fry Mountain Band and later formed her own band, the Northern Lights. She played piano for the First Baptist Church of Belfast, later playing at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was a member and there learned to love genealogy.
She was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Dorothea Conary Thompson; stepbrother John Rohde; ex-husband, Warren Macleod; husband Sherley Harvey; and companion Richard Ryan.
Shirley is survived by sons Kenneth Macleod of Northport and Karl (Deborah) Macleod of Altha, FL; grandchildren Thadeous Macleod and Chelsea Macleod Kneeland (Brent); great-grandchildren Jayden, Lilly, and Maeve of Verona Island; and her stepsister, Martha Rohde Clements of Bryant Pond.
A celebration of life and interment will be held in May 2024.
