Obituary – John “Johnny” Gordon Bryant Jr.
John “Johnny” Gordon Bryant Jr.
BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – John “Johnny” Gordon Bryant Jr., aged 79, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Blountstown. Johnny was the son of Velma Bryant and John Gordon Bryant Sr. He was born Jan. 18, 1945 in Blountstown and graduated Blountstown High School in 1965. He was drafted into the Army shortly thereafter, serving proudly during Vietnam as a medic, though stationed primarily stateside, but this was not before marrying the love of his life, Lorie Smith.
Upon returning from his military duty, Johnny and Lorie lived happily in Blountstown until his passing. Johnny, along with family, managed a successful business in Blountstown until his retirement and was always a proud, and willing supporter of the City of Blountstown and Calhoun County.
Johnny was a deeply beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to so many. To his sons, he was the family rock, the teacher, the mentor, and the blueprint to being a man. There was so much more to him than just being a husband, a dad, and a businessman, although he would say those were his greatest roles.
He is preceded in heaven by his mother, father, sisters Joyce Bryant and Ann Richards. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Lorie Bryant; his sons Michael Bryant and his wife Paulette, and John Gordon Bryant III and his wife Amy; four grandchildren, Hannah Wilkerson and her husband Andrew, Drew Bryant and his wife Darby, John Zachery Bryant and his wife Lydia, and Justin Lee Bryant. One great-grandchild, Bailey Marie Bryant and two sisters, Jackie Lee and Betty Messer.
Services to honor Johnny’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 26 at the graveside of Nettle Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Dustin Malphurs officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home Friday morning prior to the service.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
