JACKSON COUNTY, FL – A Saturday morning crash left one man dead and his female passenger in critical condition after their car collided with a tree.
The car, driven by a 37-year-old Lynn Haven man, was eastbound on Rocky Creek Road near Delta Lane around 8 a.m. when it traveled onto the south shoulder. When he tried to return to the road, the driver overcorrected, steering the vehicle to the left and then to the right. The car then began rotating counter-clockwise and returned to the south shoulder, where it ran into a tree.
Both occupants were ejected. Neither were wearing their seatbelts.
The passenger, identified as a 47-year-old woman from Marianna, was taken to an area hospital by emergency helicopter.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County Fire Rescue and AirHeart helicopter assisted the Florida Highway Patrol at the scene.
