New Liberty County
Judge takes office
in Bristol Thursday
BRISTOL – Liberty County’s new County Judge takes office Thursday morning, where he will be observing court proceedings and meeting the courthouse staff.
Judge Chris Bufano was sworn in Wednesday at the courthouse in Leon County, following Monday’s announcement of his selection from a group of five candidates.
Bufano has served as a Deputy General Counsel for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement since 2022. He began his career with FDLE in 2016 as an Assistant General Council. Previously, he served as an Assistant State Attorney in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University and his juris doctorate from Widener University Delaware Law School.
Bufano fills the judicial vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Ken Hosford.
Originally from Pennsylvania, he has been a Florida resident for nearly 19 years.
He, his wife and their five children – who are ages 5, 7, 9, 10 and 18 – are moving to Bristol from Tallahassee.
