Liberty County scores BIG with a

grant from J.J. Watt Foundation!

BRISTOL, FL – In a significant boost to Liberty County Middle School’s football program, the team has secured a generous grant from the J.J. Watt Foundation. This funding has allowed the school to purchase brand new helmets and shoulder pads, marking a pivotal moment for a program that has historically relied on hand-me-downs from the high school.

In Liberty County, community support runs deep for the scholastic sports programs, but limited resources are often stretched thin. Over the years, the middle school’s football team has faced challenges in providing its players with the necessary equipment for a safe and competitive experience. The arrival of new helmets and shoulder pads not only ensures enhanced safety standards but also boosts the team’s morale and competitive edge.

“Our football program is tremendously grateful to the J.J. Watt Foundation for their generous grant,” expressed head football coach Joey Jacobs. “With these new helmets and pads, our players can focus on improving their skills and enjoying the game they love without worrying about equipment limitations.”

The J.J. Watt Foundation, established by NFL star J.J. Watt with a mission to provide opportunities for middle school-aged children in the community to become involved in athletics, has been instrumental in supporting programs across the country. The foundation’s commitment to ensuring that young athletes have access to proper equipment is evident in Liberty County.

Coach Jacobs added, “I am grateful for our Superintendent, Kyle Peddie, and one of our parents, Mason Kever, for getting the ball rolling on this endeavor. We could not have done it without them, or without the great support we get from our school administrators, Rob Wheetley and Jessica Bennett.”

The news of the grant has sparked enthusiasm among students and parents alike, who see it as a positive step forward for the school’s athletic program. With improved safety measures in place, parents can rest assured knowing that their children are well-equipped to participate safely in football activities.

As the middle school gears up for the upcoming season, anticipation is high, fueled by the excitement of having top-notch equipment and renewed optimism for success on the field. The impact of the J.J. Watt Foundation’s grant extends far beyond the playing field, leaving a lasting impression on the entire school community and reinforcing the importance of supporting youth athletics.
