Rocky J. Martin

BRISTOL, FL – Rocky J. Martin, age 71, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, on Oct.13, 2024, with his family by his side.

Rocky was born in Blountstown on July 4, 1953 and moved to the Bainbridge, GA/Quincy, FL area at when he was ten and eventually graduated from Shanks High School.  He married his beloved wife, Judy, in Oct. 1981 and they were married for 43 years.  Rocky was a farmer by trade but had a deep passion for training and hunting dogs.  He also enjoyed fishing on Lake Talquin and the Apalachicola River and especially loved to be with his children and grandchildren.

After moving to Bristol in 1988 he again took up his farming trade and was known for opening his fields to people who wished to gather their own crop.  He was actively involved in his earlier years in Bristol with the Big Bend Pee Wee and Tiny Mite  Football League as a Coach for Liberty County and then as President over the seven participating teams.

Rocky is survived by his wife, Judy; his children Bronson (Jhocelyn), Tallahassee, Casey (Haleigh), Lynn Haven, and Melanie (Timmy),Slocomb,  AL; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his daughter, Katina Dunn and brother, John Martin.

A memorial service to honor Rocky’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. CT on Nov. 1 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Blountstown.  Adams Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
