JACKSON COUNTY, FL – Repair work is continuing today at a crash site where a tractor-trailer ran off the road Monday morning at CR 162 and White Pond Road in Jackson County.

Remarkably, the driver, a 69-year-old man from Tallahasssee, escaped injury. He was wearing his seatbelt.

The driver was westbound on CR 162 near White Pond Road at 8:49 a.m. when his front right steering tire blew out, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, according to the report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck hit the right side guard rail and left the road, going through the concrete barriers and overturning onto the passenger’s side in the ditch on the south side of the road.

“Crews are working diligently to repair the bridge just east of the Bellamy Bridge Trail Entrance,” according to a Thursday morning Facebook post from the FDOT. “Our Road and Bridge team, along with contractors, are pushing to complete the repairs by the end of today.”
The bridge will remain closed until the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) completes an inspection of the site.
