Free Celtic music performance

starts at 5 p.m  at Blountstown

BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – From fast, high energy jigs and reels to captivating airs and songs, Emily Ann Thompson’s performance is energetic and passionate.  She performs traditional Irish, Scottish, and Canadian fiddle tunes, signs in English and Irish Gaelic, and clogs while fiddling.  Emily Ann’s husband, Kelly, joins her on guitar, percussion, and vocals.  Emily’s brilliant fiddling with foot percussion, and her sweet, lilting voice combined with Kelly’s driving rhythmic guitar and rich, unabashed vocals create a diverse & highly entertaining combination.
Emily Ann and Kelly tour nationally and have performed thousands of shows together since 2009.  Venues and festival performance include: Bitterroot Celtic Festival, Kalamazoo Irish Fest, Erie Irish Festival, Indy Irish Fest, Cape Coral Irish Fest, River Roots Folk Festival, Carmel International Arts Festival,Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art, Columbus Ethnic Expo, Indiana State Fair, Indy Folk Series, numerous other concert series, pubs and other venues and in addition to two tours in Ireland.

Pioneer  Settlement 2024 events

BLOUNTSTOWN, FL – The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement, located at 17869 NW Pioneer Settlement Road in Blountstown, has the following events planned:

Saturday, Nov. 30: Public syrup making day.

Saturday, Dec. 7: Breakfast with Santa in the morning, followed by the Annual Old-Fashioned  Christmas tour that evening

Saturday, Dec. 14: The Craft Fair and Santa Shop will give families a chance to do some last minute holiday shopping while enjoying touring settlement grounds.

Eight blacksmithing classes are scheduled for the remainder of the year, with two being held each month over the next four months.  All are on Saturdays. Those dates include Nov. 2 & 16 and Dec. 7 and 21.  Additional classes will be offered from January through May of 2025.

Field Trips  with groups and schools are scheduled  throughout the  year. Families and groups can arrange their own tours for a few.

The settlement is proud to announce the winners who brought their own special flavors to share during the recent Ice Cream Social.  They include First Place Winner Ellen Ethridge with her Pumpkin Spice dessert.  Second place went to Sue Price with her tasty chocolate ice cream.  There was a tie for third place between Ann Busher with her huckleberry-flavored ice cream and Pam Mellor’s peanut butter cup ice cream.

AMERICAN PICKERS to Film in Florida

The American Pickers are excited to return to Florida! They plan to film episodes of The History Channel hit television series throughout the panhandle in December 2024.

AMERICAN PICKERS is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on The History Channel. The hit show follows skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to find historically significant or rare items, in addition to unforgettable Characters and their collections.

As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, the Pickers are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, they want to meet characters with amazing stories and fun items. They hope to give historically significant objects a new lease on life while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way. The Pickers have seen a lot of rusty gold over the years and are always looking to discover something they’ve never seen before. They are ready to find extraordinary items and hear fascinating tales about them.

The American Pickers TV Show is looking for leads and would love to explore your hidden treasure.
