BRISTOL, FL – A Bradenton man and his passenger escaped injury after the car they were traveling in went into the Apalachicola River at the Bristol Board Landing shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday.
The 51-year-old driver and the 38-year-old man traveling with him, who is from Sarasota, got out by climbing through the open front windows as the 2020 Toyota SUV slid into the water, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The passenger was arrested after it was discovered that he was wanted on a warrant out of Sarasota.
The vehicle was recovered during daylight hours with the assistance of FWC.
The incident remains under investigation.
