FDLE arrests Gadsden
School Board Employee
on multiple theft charges
QUINCY, FL – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested Michael Pride, 50, of Quincy, on one count each of dealing in stolen property, grand theft and driving while license suspended or revoked. Pride is a supervisor in the Maintenance Department for the Gadsden County School Board and has been employed with them for over 30 years.
FDLE’s investigation began on Apr. 7, after agents with the Economic Crime Squad received a tip from a concerned citizen stating that Pride, while working as a maintenance employee for the school board, ordered large quantities of copper wire for the school board from a local electrical supply company.
On Apr. 28, FDLE agents arrested Pride while he was in the process of selling copper wire belonging to the Gadsden County School Board to a Tallahassee scrapyard. Investigators determined he had placed an order for the copper wire that same day. Pride was transported to the Leon County Jail.
The case is being prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, Second Judicial Circuit.
The investigation remains active. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
