LIBERTY COUNTY – All Liberty County Schools will be CLOSED on Friday, October 9th.
Tropical Storm Isaias is projected to intensify, bringing storm related thunderstorms, possible tornadoes, and strong winds to our area beginning sometime on Friday.
Many of our neighboring school districts are closing as well. I think Thursday will be fine for us. I will, however, continue to monitor the weather throughout the day and night and if the need to cancel Thursday arises, I will let you know as soon as possible. As of now (Wednesday, Oct. 7), school is only CLOSED for Friday.
Friday’s game scheduled between the Liberty County Bulldogs and Cottondale Hornets in Cottondale has been moved up to Thursday at 8 p.m. in Cottondale.
I’ll keep in touch. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We want to keep all our students and staff SAFE!
Praying for LC!
Sincerely,
Kyle Peddie
Liberty County Superintendent of Schools

CALHOUN COUNTY – Due to the uncertain weather conditions related to the approaching storm and the potential for tornadoes associated with this weather system, all Calhoun County School sites will be CLOSED Friday, October 9, 2026. The possibility of flooding in low-lying areas and the timing of this weather system make this the safest decision for our students and staff. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.
School will resume for students on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after fall break (10/12 – 10/13/2026).
We encourage everyone to stay weather-aware and monitor local weather updates throughout the day. Any additional announcements will be shared through the district’s ParentSquare, social media, and news outlets.
